In the 3rd minute, Celso Cruz reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Rolando Noboa. The goal made the score 1-0. A sloppy throw-in by Jesus Paskal in the 6th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Peru's Eliseo Mina. Sebastián Torrico showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Julian Murillo, who was totally free with the ball in the 7th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Peru's zone, Celso Cruz stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Rolando Noboa came out of the goal and Celso Cruz tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. A collision led to Urko FC getting a freekick after 12 minutes play. Jesus Paskal hit a great ball. Julian Murillo's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Sebastián Torrico read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 13th minute of play. Peru's Rolando Noboa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Celso Cruz in the 17th minute of play. 20 minutes into the game, Luz Tejedor cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-1. Sebastián Torrico was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 27th minute Julian Murillo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sebastián Torrico saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Peru's Eliseo Mina managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Jesus Paskal in the 34 minute of the game. In the 36th minute of the game Efraim Gilabert made a throw-in which Milagros Fraga played forward. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 1-2 lead.

The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Jesus Paskal during the 51st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of Peru booed when Urko FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 51 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jesus Paskal didn't get a good kick on the ball. The crowd rose to their feet as Eliseo Mina kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Sebastián Torrico. That made the score 1-4 in the 85 minute of play. Rolando Noboa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Aquiles Arnas in the 88th minute of the match. Rafael Gallo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 92nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sebastián Torrico having to interfere. Peru's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
