Luis Andino scored 0-2 in the 24th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Gino Tonić, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 32nd minute Arturo Turner shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 33rd minute, Charlie Vandamme left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The New Miran FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-2. In the 35th minute, Hugo De Leon hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Luis Andino took the ball and in the 39 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Gino Tonić. Gino Tonić dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-3. Julio Vera made a fantastic save in the 45th minute, when Arturo Turner sent off a good shot on target. The audience thought a goal was coming when Charlie Vandamme got free with Julio Vera in the 46th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Johan Neeskens kicked well hit freekick during the 47th minute of the match. The New Miran FC players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Ecuador were winning 1-3.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Arturo Turner made a kick off. 51 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Charlie Vandamme came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The audience was convinced that Charlie Vandamme's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Julio Vera was relentless in the 53rd minute of the game. If Johan Neeskens had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 54th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Johan Neeskens, who was totally free with the ball in the 54th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 55th minute, Charlie Vandamme managed to get in a good position for a shot. Julio Vera breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Daniel Zorita sent away a hard shot on goal in the 56th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Arturo Turner in the 61st minute of play. Julio Vera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Arturo Turner, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The audience thought a goal was coming when Cristian Sancho got free with Gino Tonić in the 69th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 71 minutes into the game, New Miran FC's Charlie Vandamme nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Julio Vera made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-3. The corner went over the outstretched arms of New Miran FC's goalie and right to Felix Montes. He fired away a shot at goal, but the shot had too much spin, and it went just outside the goal. New Miran FC's manager breathed a sigh of relief on the sidelines as his team had managed to escape an almost certain goal. In the 78th match minute, Ecuador was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Felix Montes to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Álvaro Duarte in the 79th minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The audience was convinced that Arturo Turner's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Julio Vera was relentless in the 81st minute of the game. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Ecuador eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
