The audience thought a goal was coming when Krisztián Véber got free with Dante Lacasa in the 4th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Mexico's Dante Lacasa proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 9th minute of the match, managed to save Mexico from getting a goal against them. After a rather tough play, Mexico's Facundo Cadaval got a free kick in the 10th minute. Dante Lacasa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lei Feng Yan in the 10th minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Renato Augusto in the 12th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Dante Lacasa saved Mexico from getting behind. When the match clock showed 12 minutes, the score became 1-0 when Renato Augusto sped through Mexico's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Dante Lacasa. In the 14th minute, Joel Gaona hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 18th minute Renato Augusto shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dante Lacasa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Joel Gaona sent away a hard shot on goal in the 20th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Alberto Tafalla had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 23rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 25th minute, Luca Zorita hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Lautaro Mancebo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 29th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Esen Sanal came out of the goal in the 31st minute to try and stop a shot by Mexico's Lautaro Mancebo. But to his dismay, Lautaro Mancebo quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. Lei Feng Yan came free with the goalkeeper in the 36th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Dante Lacasa could save by the left post. In the 37th minute S.E.R. Caxias do Sul were awarded a corner. Lei Feng Yan went to the cornerflag to take it. 42 minutes into the game, Krisztián Véber recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Dante Lacasa. Krisztián Véber showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 2-1. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-1. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

After having played for 54 minutes, Lorenzo Cazalla managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Mexico's supporters crossed their fingers, but Lorenzo Cazalla was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Dante Lacasa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lucio Siekkötter in the 56th minute of play. Dante Lacasa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Lei Feng Yan, who was totally free with the ball in the 57th minute. Esen Sanal showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Joel Gaona in the 60th minute of the match. 62 minutes into the match, Mexico's goal looked a bit too open when Lucio Siekkötter came free, but Dante Lacasa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Joel Gaona was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 66th minute. Mexico's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. After a rather tough play, Mexico's Lorenzo Cazalla got a free kick in the 67th minute. Joel Gaona sent away a hard shot on goal in the 70th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Mexico's Dante Lacasa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Lei Feng Yan in the 72nd minute of play. In the 76th minute Joel Gaona shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Esen Sanal saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Mexico's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Joel Gaona in the 77th minute. After taking down the ball on Mexico's corner Joel Gaona fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Esen Sanal quite easily take care of the ball. With a little luck, S.E.R. Caxias do Sul's Esen Sanal got control of the ball when Joel Gaona tried to sneak it across the goal line. After 85 minutes S.E.R. Caxias do Sul's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Joel Gaona who took care of the corner kick. The corner led Mexico's Joel Gaona to fire away a dangerous shot which Esen Sanal despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. In the 87th minute Renato Augusto shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dante Lacasa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When the match clock showed 87 minutes, the score became 3-1 when Renato Augusto sped through Mexico's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Dante Lacasa. After 90 played minutes S.E.R. Caxias do Sul got a freekick which was hit by Wellington Fonseca. Esen Sanal made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Alberto Tafalla in the 91st minute of play. 92 minutes had been played when some careless play by S.E.R. Caxias do Sul's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Joel Gaona was slow to take the kick. During this time Mexico's players had a chance to rest. Mexico's Joel Gaona was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Esen Sanal in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. The S.E.R. Caxias do Sul support was delighted with a win in a match that could easily have ended differently.
