It was a well-played corner which Joshua Garrido managed to volley towards the net. Unfortunately, he didn't get a great hit on the ball and it went out into the grandstand. Marcelo Barovero took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Axel Montenegro, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 45 minutes had been played when some careless play by River CBBA's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Axel Montenegro was slow to take the kick. During this time Colombia's players had a chance to rest. Luis Cazalla made a great header on Colombia's corner, it was just that River CBBA's Marcelo Barovero managed to reach the ball for a save. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 3-0 at half-time.

Marcelo Barovero dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-2. 88 minutes into the match, Colombia's goal looked a bit too open when Argoitz Abeijon came free, but Pedro Manzanares reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Pedro Manzanares showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Sergio Batista, who was totally free with the ball in the 89th minute. The supporters of River CBBA booed when Colombia was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 94 match minutes in a wonderful position. Antonio Indiano didn't get a good kick on the ball. River CBBA's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
