Ensar Secaattin took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cassius Byrne, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cassius Byrne in the 30th minute of play forced ☆☆Pαbɭó Escóbαr☆☆'s goalkeeper Ensar Secaattin to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Marco Day was out of position in the 31 minute of play, and Miroslav Klose capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Miroslav Klose really showed his touch with that goal: 3-0. The audience thought a goal was coming when Miroslav Klose got free with Marco Day in the 35th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 37th minute the ball was on its way in behind USA's goalkeeper Marco Day, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. If Cassius Byrne had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Af the end of the first half the score was 3-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.
