The audience thought a goal was coming when Rufino Giron got free with Thiago Pliego in the 18th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. A collision led to Club Puerto Quito getting a freekick after 19 minutes play. Erdinç Hayırlı hit a great ball. Club Puerto Quito's Mauricio Precioso played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Guillermo Fontirroig in the 21st minute of play. In the 27th minute the ball was on its way in behind Club Puerto Quito's goalkeeper Mauricio Precioso, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Rufino Giron could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 31st minute of the match, but Thiago Pliego made a huge save. With an all-out effort, Club Puerto Quito's Thiago Pliego threw himself towards the right post 36 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from 董洲晨, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. The corner went over the outstretched arms of Chile's goalie and right to Enzo Gallardo. He fired away a shot at goal, but the shot had too much spin, and it went just outside the goal. Chile's manager breathed a sigh of relief on the sidelines as his team had managed to escape an almost certain goal. Mauricio Precioso stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Mariano Lacasa's shot from short distance in the 45th minute. Club Puerto Quito's Mauricio Precioso played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Mariano Lacasa in the 47th minute of play. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

The Chile fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-2. 90 minutes into the match, Orlando Casaus had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Mauricio Precioso. Club Puerto Quito's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Orlando Casaus was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-3. Chile played a much better game than Club Puerto Quito and deserved their victory. The Club Puerto Quito players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
