The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Grêmio 20 Julho's Sylwester Zarobski played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Agustín Saelices in the 3rd minute of play. Daniel Zorita sent away a hard shot on goal in the 5th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cristian Sancho in the 7th minute of play forced Grêmio 20 Julho's goalkeeper Sylwester Zarobski to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Sylwester Zarobski showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Daniel Zorita, who was totally free with the ball in the 8th minute. Sylwester Zarobski showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cristian Sancho in the 9th minute of the match. If Téo Pires had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 13th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Sylwester Zarobski took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Agustín Saelices, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 19th match minute, Grêmio 20 Julho was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Humberto Soeiro to maneuver through the defense. After 20 played minutes, Ecuador's Daniel Zorita shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Sylwester Zarobski came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Ecuador reached it. A collision led to Ecuador getting a freekick after 23 minutes play. Daniel Zorita hit a great ball. Valdir Cavalcantes short, quick shot in the 25thth minute got Julio Vera to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Sylwester Zarobski showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Daniel Zorita in the 31st minute of the match. After a rather tough play, Grêmio 20 Julho's Kléber Borges got a free kick in the 31st minute. Sylwester Zarobski made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Daniel Zorita in the 37th minute of play. Sylwester Zarobski showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Daniel Zorita, who was totally free with the ball in the 40th minute. After 40 minutes of play, Ecuador's Daniel Zorita made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Sylwester Zarobski was left in no man's land by his defense there!

The wind increased when Valdemar de Amaral made the kick off in the second half. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Valdemar de Amaral in the 51st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Julio Vera prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Sylwester Zarobski was a little too slow when Agustín Saelices got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 56th minute. The score was now 1-2. Grêmio 20 Julho's Jânio Pires was substituted for Tiaguinho Saldanha. Daniel Zorita could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 62nd minute of the match, but Sylwester Zarobski made a huge save. In the 62nd minute, Ecuador's Daniel Zorita dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-3. Julio Vera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Valdemar de Amaral in the 67th minute of the match. In the 68th minute, Valdemar de Amaral ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Julio Vera was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-3. The crowd rose to their feet as Daniel Zorita kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Sylwester Zarobski. That made the score 2-4 in the 73 minute of play. When the match had gone on for 76 minutes, Valdemar de Amaral put it in 3-4 from a short distance just to the right of Julio Vera. Grêmio 20 Julho were furious when Amílton de Andrade was red carded, 80 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. The goalkeeper, Sylwester Zarobski, was totally fooled by Ecuador's Daniel Zorita, who 81 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. After some fancy dribbling in the 87th minute, Daniel Zorita managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ecuador's supporters rose to their feet, but Daniel Zorita was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Sylwester Zarobski breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. With a little luck, Grêmio 20 Julho's Sylwester Zarobski got control of the ball when Daniel Zorita tried to sneak it across the goal line. Téo Pires received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 92nd minute. Julio Vera tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Grêmio 20 Julho's zone, Cristian Sancho stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Sylwester Zarobski came out of the goal and Cristian Sancho tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Ecuador's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
