The referee showed Abraham Alguacil the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 14th minute Miguel Miralles shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Melchor Elija saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 15 played minutes Sunnyvale FC got a freekick which was hit by Kirk Camacho. 16 minutes into the match, Tomas Berganza notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Sunnyvale FC's Melchor Elija. Melchor Elija was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Sunnyvale FC's attentive Kirk Camacho managed to snatch the ball when Matthew Garrido made a throw-in in the 23rd minute of the game. Sunnyvale FC's Benito Newcomb quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Matthew Garrido, made in the 24th minute of the game. Abraham Alguacil received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 25th minute. Melchor Elija tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 26th minute, Dylan Sarmiento hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 30th play minute Rickey McLain came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Marcos Cotilla. 1-1. A collision led to Panama getting a freekick after 33 minutes play. Felipe Ros hit a great ball. Fernan Gomesano came free with the goalkeeper in the 34th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Marcos Cotilla could save by the left post. Isidoro Sarmiento sent away a hard shot on goal in the 40th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The supporters of Sunnyvale FC booed when Panama was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 41 match minutes in a wonderful position. Miguel Miralles didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Francesco Di Lillo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 43rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Melchor Elija showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tomas Berganza, who was totally free with the ball in the 46th minute. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The wind increased when Francesco Di Lillo made the kick off in the second half. Sunnyvale FC's Kirk Camacho quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Jose Carita, made in the 56th minute of the game. Francesco Di Lillo kicked well hit freekick during the 57th minute of the match. Tomas Berganza blasted a shot towards the goal in the 68th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Melchor Elija having to make a save. In the 71st minute Tomas Berganza shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Melchor Elija saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When the match clock showed 73 minutes, the score became 2-2 when Francesco Di Lillo sped through Panama's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Marcos Cotilla. Sunnyvale FC's defense didn't have a chance, in the 78th minute, when Isidoro Sarmiento scored to the left of an out of position Melchor Elija, making the score, 2-3. Tomas Berganza sent away a hard shot on goal in the 83rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Tomas Berganza struck a weak shot in the 88th minute. Melchor Elija didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Panama. After a rather tough play, Sunnyvale FC's Arturo Grimm got a free kick in the 91st minute. In the 92nd minute, Isidoro Sarmiento got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Isidoro Sarmiento fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 94th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Melchor Elija having to interfere. The supporters of Sunnyvale FC booed when Panama was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 95 match minutes in a wonderful position. Miguel Miralles didn't get a good kick on the ball. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Panama eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
