To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 12 minutes into the match, GNK Dinamo Zagreb™'s goal looked a bit too open when Luis Andino came free, but Elder de Toledo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. A collision led to GNK Dinamo Zagreb™ getting a freekick after 14 minutes play. Oton Mangafić hit a great ball. Elder de Toledo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Daniel Zorita, who was totally free with the ball in the 15th minute. In the 17th minute, Cristian Sancho got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. When Ecuador's Cristian Sancho in the 21st minute got a chance for a shot 21st didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. GNK Dinamo Zagreb™'s manager breathed a sigh of relief on the sidelines as his team had managed to escape an almost certain goal. GNK Dinamo Zagreb™'s Elder de Toledo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Daniel Zorita in the 29th minute of play. Elder de Toledo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cristian Sancho in the 30th minute of the match. In the 34th minute, Luis Andino hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bruno Šimunko in the 35th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cristian Sancho in the 38th minute of play forced GNK Dinamo Zagreb™'s goalkeeper Elder de Toledo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 42 played minutes GNK Dinamo Zagreb™ got a freekick which was hit by Ninoslav Stipanić. After some careless play in the GNK Dinamo Zagreb™ defense, Daniel Zorita kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Elder de Toledo. The GNK Dinamo Zagreb™ fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Elder de Toledo should have stopped the shot.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Daniel Zorita made a kick off. Elder de Toledo made an important save on a dangerous shot by Daniel Zorita in the 53rd minute. Cristian Sancho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 69th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Gradimir Juraga hit a great freekick 73 minutes into the match. With a little luck, GNK Dinamo Zagreb™'s Elder de Toledo got control of the ball when Daniel Zorita tried to sneak it across the goal line. Daniel Zorita sent away a hard shot on goal in the 77th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. GNK Dinamo Zagreb™'s Elder de Toledo proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 79th minute of the match, managed to save GNK Dinamo Zagreb™ from getting a goal against them. Gradimir Juraga hit a great freekick 89 minutes into the match. Daniel Zorita received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 96th minute. Elder de Toledo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Ecuador played a much better game than GNK Dinamo Zagreb™ and deserved their victory. The GNK Dinamo Zagreb™ players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
