Spectators: 39 (Terracing: 30, Seating: 9, VIP seats: 0) The mood of the audience was pleasant when Daniel Zorita made the kick off which started today's match. When Cristian Sancho came up free with the goalie in the 4th minute, the Ecuador fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Cristian Sancho couldn't finish the play. Daniel Zorita fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 14th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tiran Piedra having to interfere. Gimnasia LP's Tiran Piedra played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Daniel Zorita in the 16th minute of play. Julio Vera didn't succeed in stopping the ball in the 20th minute, which inside left pole to 1-0. An unexpectedly hard shot by Daniel Zorita in the 26th minute of play forced Gimnasia LP's goalkeeper Tiran Piedra to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Amado Sindo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 28th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Daniel Zorita received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 33rd minute. Tiran Piedra tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The wind increased when Amado Sindo made the kick off in the second half. Julio Vera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Benvide Ponte, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a defensive mix-up in Ecuador's zone, Benvide Ponte stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Julio Vera came out of the goal and Benvide Ponte tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Daniel Zorita struck a weak shot in the 57th minute. Tiran Piedra didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ecuador. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Benvide Ponte in the 59th minute of play. Primitivo Andino made in the 62nd minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Gimnasia LP's Ruperto Gentza. In the 63rd match minute, Gimnasia LP was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ruperto Gentza to maneuver through the defense. If Cristian Sancho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 65th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Benvide Ponte received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 70th minute. Julio Vera tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The crowd rose to their feet as Daniel Zorita kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Tiran Piedra. That made the score 1-1 in the 73 minute of play. In the 76th minute, Daniel Zorita got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. When Gimnasia LP's Benvide Ponte in the 79th minute got a chance for a shot 79th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Ecuador's goalie prevented a goal. Tiran Piedra made an important save on a dangerous shot by Cristian Sancho in the 83rd minute. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Benvide Ponte in the 93rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Julio Vera prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 94th minute of the match Gimnasia LP got a corner. Ecuador's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Melquiades Hondo ran over to the corner to take the kick. Ecuador were disappointed that they only managed a draw, even though they felt themselves to be the better team.
