Juan Sebastián Puig kicked well hit freekick during the 46th minute of the match. After 47 played minutes, Bem Bolado's Marcelinho do Valle shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Julio Vera came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Bem Bolado reached it. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Magno das Neves in the 53rd minute of play. After 54 played minutes Ecuador got a freekick which was hit by Felix Montes. In the 55th minute, Marcelinho do Valle sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Ecuador's Julio Vera didn't even have to move. José Maria Branco made an important save on a dangerous shot by Cristian Sancho in the 57th minute. 60 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Cláudio Donatello came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 63rdth minute of the game Magno das Neves who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Ecuador's Julio Vera was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. The Ecuador fans' excitement grew in the 70th match minute when Ecuador's Felix Montenegro looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Cristian Sancho's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 76thth minute, José Maria Branco skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. In the 77th minute, Bernardo de Senna hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. With an all-out effort, Ecuador's José Maria Branco threw himself towards the right post 82 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Cristian Sancho, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Daniel Zorita received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 91st minute. José Maria Branco tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Leopoldo Mandrak hit a great freekick 92 minutes into the match. Luis Andino fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 93rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without José Maria Branco having to interfere. Ecuador's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
