In the 10th minute Georgiy Voroshilov shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Marco Day saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. José Chilavert took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cassius Byrne, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Cassius Byrne scored 0-2 in the 22nd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of José Chilavert, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Catarinense F.C.'s José Chilavert played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Monty Rogers in the 26th minute of play. Monty Rogers took the ball and in the 41 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised José Chilavert. José Chilavert dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-3. After a rather tough play, USA's Monty Rogers got a free kick in the 45th minute. In the 47th minute, Gernando Cordeiro reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Marco Day. The goal made the score 1-3. The Catarinense F.C. players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. USA were winning 1-3.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Gernando Cordeiro was the one to do the kick off. Catarinense F.C.'s José Chilavert played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Monty Rogers in the 52nd minute of play. Catarinense F.C.'s José Chilavert proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 55th minute of the match, managed to save Catarinense F.C. from getting a goal against them. 56 minutes had been played when some careless play by Catarinense F.C.'s defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Cassius Byrne was slow to take the kick. During this time USA's players had a chance to rest. The corner led USA's Jenson Smith to fire away a dangerous shot which José Chilavert despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. In the 58th minute of the match USA got a corner. Catarinense F.C.'s goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Cassius Byrne ran over to the corner to take the kick. Cassius Byrne made a great header on USA's corner, it was just that Catarinense F.C.'s José Chilavert managed to reach the ball for a save. José Chilavert showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cassius Byrne, who was totally free with the ball in the 62nd minute. Catarinense F.C.'s Angel Diagur was substituted for Gernando Cordeiro. USA's Sam Campbell was substituted for Cassius Byrne. 77 minutes into the match, USA's Monty Rogers sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that José Chilavert narrowly saved just below the crossbar. 79 minutes into the match, Catarinense F.C.'s goal looked a bit too open when Edward Mcdonald came free, but José Chilavert reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Sam Campbell scored 1-4 in the 82nd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of José Chilavert, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. USA made a substitution. Marco Baker replaced Edward Mcdonald. 87 minutes into the match, Lucas Papacharalabous notched a goal, 2-4, to the right of USA's Marco Day. Marco Day was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. 95 minutes into the game, Sam Campbell cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-5. José Chilavert was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. The Catarinense F.C. fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. USA were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
