With his leg Julio Vera managed to avoid a goal in the 12thth minute, when Village Saint Charles FRC's Pál Pintér fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Cristian Sancho blasted a shot towards the goal in the 15th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Desiderio Montel having to make a save. Desiderio Montel made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Daniel Zorita in the 17th minute of play. In the 19th minute the ball was on its way in behind Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Ecuador's Daniel Zorita got a good chance for a goal in the 22nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When Cristian Sancho came up free with the goalie in the 23rd minute, the Ecuador fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Cristian Sancho couldn't finish the play. Hector Herensuge struck a weak shot in the 32nd minute. Julio Vera didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Village Saint Charles FRC. Felix Montenegro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 33rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Daniel Zorita took the corner. 84 minutes into the game, Agustín Saelices recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Desiderio Montel. Agustín Saelices showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 0-2. Pedro Luiz da Rocha fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 86th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Julio Vera having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Ecuador's zone, Pál Pintér stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Julio Vera came out of the goal and Pál Pintér tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Cristian Sancho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 93rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The Village Saint Charles FRC fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Ecuador were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
