When Romeo Mel came up free with the goalie in the 15th minute, the SOUTH AFRICA fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Romeo Mel couldn't finish the play. 16 minutes into the match, Ecuador's Daniel Zorita sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Romeo Dominic narrowly saved just below the crossbar. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Daniel Zorita in the 26th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Romeo Dominic saved SOUTH AFRICA from getting behind. Rafael Domeka could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 27th minute of the match, but Julio Vera made a huge save. Romeo Dominic took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Daniel Zorita, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The audience was convinced that Rafael Domeka's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Julio Vera was relentless in the 35th minute of the game. In the 59th minute the ball was on its way in behind SOUTH AFRICA's goalkeeper Romeo Dominic, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 63rd minute, Daniel Zorita got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Romeo Mel, who was totally free with the ball in the 66th minute. 68 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Romeo Mel came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.
