With a little luck, Colombia's Pedro Manzanares got control of the ball when Gasteiz Latorre tried to sneak it across the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Club Dep. Soc. Rodo's zone, Axel Montenegro stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jeremy Avellana came out of the goal and Axel Montenegro tried to chip the ball over his head. Soc. Rodo got a freekick which was hit by Deunoro Barbadillo. After a rather tough play, Club Dep. Soc. Rodo's Del Manfredi got a free kick in the 45th minute. Jeremy Avellana made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Axel Montenegro in the 47th minute of play. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-1 at half-time.
