The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 2nd match minute, Chile was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Felix Garrido to maneuver through the defense. Salvino Masses could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 4th minute of the match, but Thiago Pliego made a huge save. Club Dep. Soc. Rodo were awarded a corner in the 8th minute after Chile's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Gasteiz Latorre took the corner. Chile's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Gasteiz Latorre 11 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 1-0. Mariano Lacasa's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Jeremy Avellana read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 14th minute of play. Club Dep. Soc. Rodo's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Gasteiz Latorre in the 16th minute. In the 19th minute the ball was on its way in behind Chile's goalkeeper Thiago Pliego, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After 26 minutes of play, Chile's Mariano Lacasa made it 2-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Jeremy Avellana was left in no man's land by his defense there! 30 minutes into the match, Chile's goalkeeper Thiago Pliego had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Gasteiz Latorre. Gasteiz Latorre struck a weak shot in the 35th minute. Thiago Pliego didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Club Dep. Soc. Rodo. After 36 played minutes Club Dep. Soc. Rodo got a freekick which was hit by Guto Pirani. An unexpectedly hard shot by Mariano Lacasa in the 40th minute of play forced Club Dep. Soc. Rodo's goalkeeper Jeremy Avellana to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Danilo Mendonça fell near the penalty area in the 43rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Club Dep. Soc. Rodo's protests and gave Danilo Mendonça a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, Club Dep. Soc. Rodo's Danilo Mendonça got a free kick in the 43rd minute. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-1.

54 minutes into the match, Club Dep. Soc. Rodo's Anthon Öberg sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Thiago Pliego narrowly saved just below the crossbar. 55 minutes into the match, Chile's goal looked a bit too open when Anthon Öberg came free, but Thiago Pliego reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Thiago Pliego made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Anthon Öberg in the 57th minute of play. Anthon Öberg fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 64th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Thiago Pliego having to interfere. Alan Tamayo hit a great freekick 69 minutes into the match. Jeremy Avellana made a fantastic save in the 72nd minute, when Orlando Casaus sent off a good shot on target. Anthon Öberg took the ball and in the 77 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Thiago Pliego. Thiago Pliego dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-1. Thiago Pliego took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Anthon Öberg, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Orlando Casaus blasted a shot towards the goal in the 85th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Jeremy Avellana having to make a save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Orlando Casaus in the 85th minute of play forced Club Dep. Soc. Rodo's goalkeeper Jeremy Avellana to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With a little luck, Club Dep. Soc. Rodo's Jeremy Avellana got control of the ball when Mariano Lacasa tried to sneak it across the goal line. With his leg Jeremy Avellana managed to avoid a goal in the 88thth minute, when Chile's Mariano Lacasa fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Thiago Pliego showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Anthon Öberg, who was totally free with the ball in the 91st minute. When Celso Trasloseros came up free with the goalie in the 93rd minute, the Club Dep. Soc. Rodo fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Celso Trasloseros couldn't finish the play. Danilo Mendonça hit a great freekick 96 minutes into the match. When Danilo Mendonça was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 97 minutes had been played. After 98 played minutes Club Dep. Soc. Rodo got a freekick which was hit by Danilo Mendonça. Danilo Mendonça kicked well hit freekick during the 100th minute of the match. Chile's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
