With an extended leg and a bit of luck Nechifor Zeciu prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 36th minute, Orlando Tafalla hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Nechifor Zeciu took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Abram Sarmiento, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Nechifor Zeciu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Axel Montenegro in the 40th minute of the match. 42 minutes in the game Rod Stewart did a throw-in, and the ball was quickly in game thanks to Özen Mukremin. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-1.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Abram Sarmiento stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. 57 minutes into the match, Colombia's goal looked a bit too open when Erasmo Neiva came free, but Pedro Manzanares reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.
