Cristian Sancho received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 6th minute. Marian Văduvescu tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The supporters of FC Steaua Pildesti booed when Ecuador was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 8 match minutes in a wonderful position. Felix Montenegro didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 11th minute, Nicolae Barbu hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When the match had gone on for 13 minutes, Cristian Sancho put it in 0-1 from a short distance just to the right of Marian Văduvescu. Marian Văduvescu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Agustín Saelices, who was totally free with the ball in the 16th minute. After having played for 19 minutes, Cristian Sancho managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ecuador's supporters crossed their fingers, but Cristian Sancho was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. FC Steaua Pildesti's Marian Văduvescu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Daniel Zorita in the 24th minute of play. After 25 played minutes Ecuador got a freekick which was hit by Agustín Saelices. The FC Steaua Pildesti fans' excitement grew in the 29th match minute when FC Steaua Pildesti's Filip Paulescu looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. 31 minutes into the match, Filip Paulescu notched a goal, 2-1, to the right of Ecuador's Julio Vera. Julio Vera was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. An unexpectedly hard shot by Filip Paulescu in the 35th minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Julio Vera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Filip Paulescu in the 41st minute of the match. Robert Antohi hit a great freekick 43 minutes into the match. After a rather tough play, FC Steaua Pildesti's Robert Antohi got a free kick in the 47th minute. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-1 at half-time.

Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Filip Paulescu in the 51st minute of play. 55 minutes into the game, Zygmunt Dunajski cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 3-1. Julio Vera was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Filip Paulescu in the 57th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Julio Vera saved Ecuador from getting behind. When Cristian Sancho came up free with the goalie in the 59th minute, the Ecuador fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Cristian Sancho couldn't finish the play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Nae Griguță during the 62nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Nae Griguță hit a great freekick 62 minutes into the match. Daniel Zoritas short, quick shot in the 65thth minute got Marian Văduvescu to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Julio Vera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Filip Paulescu in the 67th minute of the match. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Filip Paulescu in the 71st minute of play. In the 74thth minute of the game Filip Paulescu who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Ecuador's Julio Vera was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 77th minute, Nicolae Barbu got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Juan Sebastián Puig kicked well hit freekick during the 86th minute of the match. A collision led to FC Steaua Pildesti getting a freekick after 87 minutes play. Nistor Costandache hit a great ball. Marian Văduvescu made a fantastic save in the 89th minute, when Cristian Sancho sent off a good shot on target.
