Dante Lacasa was out of position in the 28 minute of play, and Pape Lillo capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Pape Lillo really showed his touch with that goal: 1-0. Dante Lacasa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Alex Dijoux, who was totally free with the ball in the 36th minute. In the 37th minute, Joel Gaona hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Clark Kent didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Joel Gaona went, in the 41st minute, to the upper right corner, 1-1 was the resulting score.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Alex Dijoux made a kick off. 52 minutes into the match, Joel Gaona dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Clark Kent, 1-3. Clark Kent took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Facundo Cadaval, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Allan Silm's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Dante Lacasa read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 93rd minute of play. The supporters of Mexico booed when Zorros del Desierto was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 94 match minutes in a wonderful position. Benedicto Medero didn't get a good kick on the ball.
