Uruguay's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Aquiles Leonidas was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. The crowd rose to their feet as Flamengo FSCMZ's Aquiles Leonidas slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Joaquin Gayoso. That made the score 2-0 after 9 minutes of play. In the 14th minute, Aquiles Leonidas ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Joaquin Gayoso was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-0. After 19 played minutes Flamengo FSCMZ got a freekick which was hit by Gui Souza. Joaquin Gayoso was out of position in the 26 minute of play, and Aquiles Leonidas capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Aquiles Leonidas really showed his touch with that goal: 4-0. After some fancy dribbling in the 37th minute, Maximiliano Escribano managed to get in a good position for a shot. Uruguay's supporters rose to their feet, but Maximiliano Escribano was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Silas Carneiro breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. When Aquiles Leonidas came up free with the goalie in the 38th minute, the Flamengo FSCMZ fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Aquiles Leonidas couldn't finish the play. If Aquiles Leonidas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 43rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Af the end of the first half the score was 5-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.
The wind increased when Aquiles Leonidas made the kick off in the second half. 54 minutes into the match, Flamengo FSCMZ's goalkeeper Silas Carneiro had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Francisco Seco. Camilo Franco fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 58th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Silas Carneiro having to interfere. The audience was convinced that Aquiles Leonidas's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Joaquin Gayoso was relentless in the 61st minute of the game. After 63 played minutes Flamengo FSCMZ got a freekick which was hit by Aquiles Leonidas. 67 minutes into the match, Uruguay's goal looked a bit too open when Aquiles Leonidas came free, but Joaquin Gayoso reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 69 played minutes Uruguay got a freekick which was hit by Bruno Beldad. Joaquin Gayoso showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gui Souza, who was totally free with the ball in the 70th minute. Joaquin Gayoso came out of the goal in the 73rd minute to try and stop a shot by Flamengo FSCMZ's Aquiles Leonidas. But to his dismay, Aquiles Leonidas quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 6-0. An unexpectedly hard shot by Maximiliano Escribano in the 76th minute of play forced Flamengo FSCMZ's goalkeeper Silas Carneiro to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Francisco Seco fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 78th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Silas Carneiro having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Aquiles Leonidas in the 81st minute of play forced Uruguay's goalkeeper Joaquin Gayoso to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Aquiles Leonidas's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Joaquin Gayoso read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 84th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Uruguay's Kevin Carballal got a free kick in the 86th minute. Flamengo FSCMZ's Aquiles Leonidas got a good chance for a goal in the 87th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The supporters of Flamengo FSCMZ booed when Uruguay was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 91 match minutes in a wonderful position. Arturo Carvallo didn't get a good kick on the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 92nd minute, Aquiles Leonidas managed to get in a good position for a shot. Flamengo FSCMZ's supporters rose to their feet, but Aquiles Leonidas was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Silas Carneiro took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Maximiliano Escribano, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The Flamengo FSCMZ players were eager to celebrate when the final whistle sounded. They had somehow managed to win, even though the away team had held the majority of the possession.
