In the 12th minute, Eliseo Noboa got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 14th minute the ball was on its way in behind Costa Rica's goalkeeper Benito Sanz, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Witney City's Tod Berry quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Efrain Moruga, made in the 21st minute of the game. Tod Berry came free with the goalkeeper in the 22nd minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Benito Sanz could save by the left post. With a little luck, Costa Rica's Benito Sanz got control of the ball when Tim Hurren tried to sneak it across the goal line. Witney City were awarded a corner in the 24th minute after Costa Rica's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Igor Kyulafliyski took the corner. After 25 played minutes Witney City got a freekick which was hit by Rex Lynam. The free kick resulted in a very good chance to score when Rex Lynam kicked a really tricky shot on goal. Benito Sanz never had to step in, however, because the ball went just left of the goal. Eliseo Noboa's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Tommy Bond read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 26th minute of play. Tim Hurren could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 29th minute of the match, but Benito Sanz made a huge save. Witney City's attentive Charles Bolton managed to snatch the ball when Efrain Moruga made a throw-in in the 32nd minute of the game. With a little luck, Costa Rica's Benito Sanz got control of the ball when Tim Hurren tried to sneak it across the goal line. 38 minutes into the match, Tim Hurren dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Benito Sanz, 3-0. Costa Rica's Benito Sanz proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 41st minute of the match, managed to save Costa Rica from getting a goal against them. Benito Sanz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Leon Swanson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Axel Tasis made a kick off. In the 53rd minute, Charles Bolton left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Witney City fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 5-0. 58 minutes into the game, Lautaro Puig was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Costa Rica's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Witney City the free kick. Abel Carballo hit a great freekick 60 minutes into the match. Benito Sanz was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Tim Hurren fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 83rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Benito Sanz having to interfere. Witney City had played much better football throughout.
