In the 58th minute, Tord Gustafsson left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Smurfarna fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-2. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Tord Fors made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cristian Sancho in the 87th minute of play. Smurfarna's Tord Fors proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 90th minute of the match, managed to save Smurfarna from getting a goal against them. Luis Andino's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Tord Fors read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 93rd minute of play. A collision led to Ecuador getting a freekick after 94 minutes play. Felix Montes hit a great ball. Ecuador played a much better game than Smurfarna and deserved their victory. The Smurfarna players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
