Daniel Zorita struck a weak shot in the 12th minute. Clemente Rudolfo didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ecuador. Daniel Zorita scored 0-2 in the 14th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Clemente Rudolfo, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. After some careless play in the Characate FC defense, Daniel Zorita kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Clemente Rudolfo. The Characate FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Clemente Rudolfo should have stopped the shot. The audience was convinced that Daniel Zorita's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Clemente Rudolfo was relentless in the 21st minute of the game. 23 minutes into the match, Daniel Zorita had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Clemente Rudolfo. The Ecuador fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-6. 43 minutes into the match, Characate FC's goal looked a bit too open when Cristian Sancho came free, but Clemente Rudolfo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Characate FC's Clemente Rudolfo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cristian Sancho in the 43rd minute of play. The Characate FC players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Ecuador were winning 0-6.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Michael Ballack to make the kick off. Ecuador's supporters crossed their fingers, but Felix Montenegro was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 83 minutes into the game, Marciano Eufrasio was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Characate FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Ecuador the free kick. In the 85th minute, Marciano Eufrasio hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Clemente Rudolfo didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Luz Palacio went, in the 88th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-9 was the resulting score. In the 90th match minute, Characate FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Rogelio Ferman to maneuver through the defense. After 92 minutes of play, Ecuador's Luis Andino made it 0-10 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Clemente Rudolfo was left in no man's land by his defense there! If Luz Palacio had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 94th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ecuador played a much better game than Characate FC and deserved their victory. The Characate FC players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
