The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Pedro Manzanares came out of the goal in the 8th minute to try and stop a shot by Lyons's Boleslaw Zielinski. But to his dismay, Boleslaw Zielinski quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. 11 minutes into the match, Colombia's Abram Sarmiento sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Luisito Quinten narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 12th minute Kevin Mastache shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Luisito Quinten saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Luisito Quinten stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Axel Montenegro's shot from short distance in the 17th minute. Axel Montenegro might have been able to make a better finish in the 37th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Luisito Quinten. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Axel Montenegro ran back to his position shaking his head. Luisito Quinten showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Axel Montenegro in the 37th minute of the match. Lyons's attentive Joshua Arbi managed to snatch the ball when Samuel Navarro made a throw-in in the 40th minute of the game. After 42 minutes Colombia's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Marcos Berasko who took care of the corner kick. After taking down the ball on Lyons's corner Marcos Berasko fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Pedro Manzanares quite easily take care of the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Axel Montenegro in the 45th minute of play forced Lyons's goalkeeper Luisito Quinten to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Luisito Quinten came out of the goal in the 45th minute to try and stop a shot by Colombia's Axel Montenegro. But to his dismay, Axel Montenegro quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-2. The first half was very even, with the score at 2-2 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Boleslaw Zielinski to make the kick off. Colombia's Kevin Mastache managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Severo Basualdo in the 54 minute of the game. In the 62nd minute, Lyons's Matei Daimacă seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Matei Daimacă the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Lyons protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Matei Daimacă had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. After 62 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Lyons! The supporters of Colombia booed when Lyons was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 73 match minutes in a wonderful position. Severo Basualdo didn't get a good kick on the ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Abram Secada in the 76th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Luisito Quinten saved Lyons from getting behind. Lyons's Luisito Quinten proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 96th minute of the match, managed to save Lyons from getting a goal against them. Neither set of supporters seemed pleased with the draw, but both teams had played equally well today.
