The audience thought a goal was coming when Mark Koh got free with Julio Vera in the 11th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The corner went over the outstretched arms of Ecuador's goalie and right to Wong Butcher. He fired away a shot at goal, but the shot had too much spin, and it went just outside the goal. Ecuador's manager breathed a sigh of relief on the sidelines as his team had managed to escape an almost certain goal. Oakham's Bryan Hui played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Daniel Zorita in the 19th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Ecuador's zone, Mark Koh stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Julio Vera came out of the goal and Mark Koh tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Ecuador's defense didn't have a chance, in the 22nd minute, when Asiz Rajah scored to the left of an out of position Julio Vera, making the score, 1-1. Ecuador's Felix Montenegro got a good chance for a goal in the 26th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the last second Julio Vera throw himself and got hold of the ball when Jerry Soon in the 29thth minute from his position got away a shot towards the right post. In the 31st minute, Muhammad Singh hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Bryan Hui showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Daniel Zorita in the 32nd minute of the match. After 36 minutes, Cristian Sancho made it 1-2 with a short kick to the right side. Oakham's Bryan Hui tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Oakham's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Cristian Sancho was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-3.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Daniel Zorita made a kick off. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Mark Koh, who was totally free with the ball in the 55th minute. Jerry Soon struck a weak shot in the 56th minute. Julio Vera didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Oakham. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jerry Soon in the 57th minute of play. Bryan Hui made a fantastic save in the 61st minute, when Cristian Sancho sent off a good shot on target. In the 62nd minute Jerry Soon shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 85th minute, one of Oakham:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Oakham. After a rather tough play, Ecuador's Cristian Sancho got a free kick in the 87th minute. In the 93rd minute, Jerry Soon got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Ecuador were disappointed that they only managed a draw, even though they felt themselves to be the better team.
