Peru's Rolando Noboa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Maximino Lope in the 36th minute of play. Maximino Lope took the ball and in the 36 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Rolando Noboa. Rolando Noboa dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-0. In the 39th minute, Luz Tejedor made a precise shot to the right of André Zonta. El retorno del Pincha's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-1. When the match had gone on for 43 minutes, Armando Inautzi took a quick shot and it went in 2-1 without a chance for Rolando Noboa to make any attempt to save it. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-1.

Sven Thorsberg sent away a hard shot on goal in the 61st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Rolando Noboa prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 79th minute Sven Thorsberg shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rolando Noboa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 84th minute of the match, Julian Murillo tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but André Zonta saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. 87 minutes into the game, Sven Thorsberg cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 4-1. Rolando Noboa was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Peru made a substitution. Eliseo Alcocer replaced Moises Gayoso. Peru made a substitution. Antonio Tenorio replaced Luz Tejedor. 93 minutes into the match, Peru's Rafael Gallo sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that André Zonta narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The El retorno del Pincha support was delighted with a win in a match that could easily have ended differently.
