Mariano Lacasa's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Vítor Baia read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 35th minute of play. Chile's Felix Garrido managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Will Deman in the 37 minute of the game. The supporters of Brugge United booed when Chile was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 38 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alan Tamayo didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 41st match minute, Brugge United was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Laurențiu Roşculeţ to maneuver through the defense. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Arnauld Van Impe stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. The supporters of Chile booed when Brugge United was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 54 match minutes in a wonderful position. Will Deman didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 57th minute the ball was on its way in behind Chile's goalkeeper Thiago Pliego, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Thiago Pliego showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Arnauld Van Impe, who was totally free with the ball in the 66th minute. In the 67th minute of the match Brugge United got a corner. Chile's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Waud Huijbrechts ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner led Brugge United's Waud Huijbrechts to fire away a dangerous shot which Thiago Pliego despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. In the 82nd minute, one of Chile:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Chile. Thiago Pliego had in the 83rdth minute some difficulties stopping Waud Huijbrechts's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. 83 minutes into the game, Waud Huijbrechts cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-0. Thiago Pliego was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Arnauld Van Impe kicked well hit freekick during the 85th minute of the match. In the 87th minute Mariano Lacasa shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Vítor Baia saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.
