The crowd rose to their feet as ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA's Ricardo Weterio slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Ricardo Zorita. That made the score 1-0 after 10 minutes of play. Tautvydas Mickevičius made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Moises Fernandino in the 13th minute of play. ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA's Tautvydas Mickevičius played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Abram Luque in the 17th minute of play. When Valentin Nicholas fell near the penalty area in the 19th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA's protests and gave Valentin Nicholas a yellow card for diving instead. Valentin Nicholas hit a great freekick 19 minutes into the match. Tautvydas Mickevičius took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Moises Fernandino, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After having played for 26 minutes, Moises Fernandino managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. El Salvador's supporters crossed their fingers, but Moises Fernandino was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Gabriel Turi hit a great freekick 33 minutes into the match. A collision led to El Salvador getting a freekick after 34 minutes play. Jorge Magrina hit a great ball. Tautvydas Mickevičius showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Moises Fernandino in the 37th minute of the match. The throw-in from Luis Rubio in the 40th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA's Omar Erez. ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA's Osvaldo Gabon managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Luis Rubio in the 45 minute of the game. Joshua Curbelo made in the 47th minute of the game a fairly good throw-in which was taken care of by Abram Luque. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Moises Fernandino made a kick off. Mateo Leguizamo's late challenge caught a ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Mateo Leguizamo helped the player get up and apologised. In the 51st minute, Mateo Leguizamo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When the match had gone on for 60 minutes, Moises Fernandino put it in 2-1 from a short distance just to the right of Tautvydas Mickevičius. Tautvydas Mickevičius made an important save on a dangerous shot by Moises Fernandino in the 82nd minute. In the 84th minute, Ricardo Weterio left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-1. Ricardo Zorita stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Gabriel Turi's shot from short distance in the 88th minute. Ricardo Zorita took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cosme Crescencio, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Luis Rubio charged in rather forcefully in the 90th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Luis Rubio the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 90th match minute, El Salvador was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Luis Rubio to maneuver through the defense. If Gabriel Turi had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 93rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
