Cristian Sancho received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 15th minute. Reynaldo Stephen tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 18th minute Luis Andino shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Reynaldo Stephen saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Theo Hayles scored 2-0 in the 33rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Julio Vera, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. 39 minutes into the match, Club Sportivo Italiano's goal looked a bit too open when Felix Montenegro came free, but Reynaldo Stephen reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 40 minutes Club Sportivo Italiano's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Daniel Zorita who took care of the corner kick.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Daniel Zorita was the one to do the kick off. In the 52nd match minute, Club Sportivo Italiano was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Basilio Araoz to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Felix Montenegro in the 54th minute of play forced Club Sportivo Italiano's goalkeeper Reynaldo Stephen to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 71 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Theo Hayles came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. A collision led to Ecuador getting a freekick after 76 minutes play. Felix Montenegro hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Evelio Pes in the 77th minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Club Sportivo Italiano's Evelio Pes in the 80th minute got a chance for a shot 80th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. Theo Hayles might have been able to make a better finish in the 91st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Julio Vera. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Theo Hayles ran back to his position shaking his head. Daniel Zorita could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 92nd minute of the match, but Reynaldo Stephen made a huge save. The Club Sportivo Italiano support was delighted with a win in a match that could easily have ended differently.
