Benigno Felo kicked well hit freekick during the 5th minute of the match. Les Tigres's Gonzo Maradona played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Milagros Fraga in the 14th minute of play. In the 18th minute Leonardo Tipi shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rolando Noboa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Leonardo Tipi in the 21st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Rolando Noboa saved Peru from getting behind. Eliseo Mina sent away a hard shot on goal in the 23rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 24 played minutes Peru got a freekick which was hit by Alonso Berganza. Les Tigres's Leonardo Tipi got a good chance for a goal in the 25th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Julian Murillo in the 27th minute of play forced Les Tigres's goalkeeper Gonzo Maradona to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Gonzo Maradona made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Julian Murillo in the 37th minute of play. 40 minutes into the match, Peru's goal looked a bit too open when Leonardo Tipi came free, but Rolando Noboa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. With a little luck, Peru's Rolando Noboa got control of the ball when Leonardo Tipi tried to sneak it across the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 46th minute, Leonardo Tipi managed to get in a good position for a shot. Les Tigres's supporters rose to their feet, but Leonardo Tipi was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Rolando Noboa breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Julian Murillo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 48th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gonzo Maradona having to interfere. Les Tigres's Rodolfo Luken was substituted for Silvano Ihazintu. Les Tigres made a substitution. Mauro Abel replaced Sermet Erva. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Leonardo Tipi stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. When Peru's Julian Murillo in the 55th minute got a chance for a shot 55th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Les Tigres's goalie prevented a goal. The supporters of Les Tigres booed when Peru was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 63 match minutes in a wonderful position. Moises Gayoso didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a rather tough play, Les Tigres's Grzegorz Sokolski got a free kick in the 64th minute. In the 65th match minute, Les Tigres was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Grzegorz Sokolski to maneuver through the defense. Grzegorz Sokolski got a throw-in 68 minutes in the game and the ball was received by Ömer-Asaf Güneş. Rolando Noboa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Mauro Abel in the 73rd minute of the match. Severino Estevez was slow to take the kick. During this time Les Tigres's players had a chance to rest. A nice corner shot did that Severino Estevez got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Rolando Noboa quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. If Milagros Fraga had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 99th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Peru were unable to convert their possession into goals, allowing Les Tigres to leave the ground with a draw.
