Nicodemo Recalde showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cristian Sancho, who was totally free with the ball in the 24th minute. Luis Andino made a great header on Ecuador's corner, it was just that VILLANUEVA FC's Nicodemo Recalde managed to reach the ball for a save. In the 28th minute, VILLANUEVA FC's Atahan Hatemoğlu seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Atahan Hatemoğlu the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of VILLANUEVA FC protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Atahan Hatemoğlu had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. Nicodemo Recalde showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Daniel Zorita in the 33rd minute of the match. After some careless play in the VILLANUEVA FC defense, Cristian Sancho kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Nicodemo Recalde. The VILLANUEVA FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Nicodemo Recalde should have stopped the shot. When Esteban José Norambuena fell near the penalty area in the 40th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored VILLANUEVA FC's protests and gave Esteban José Norambuena a yellow card for diving instead. In the 40th match minute, VILLANUEVA FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Esteban José Norambuena to maneuver through the defense. Nicodemo Recalde took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Daniel Zorita, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After having played for 45 minutes, Xalvador Mac Kenney managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. VILLANUEVA FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Xalvador Mac Kenney was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-4.

The wind increased when Xacobo Barroso made the kick off in the second half. Felix Montenegro scored 0-6 in the 62nd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Nicodemo Recalde, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 67th minute, Antonio Arias hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 68th minute of the match Reces Cabanillas shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Julio Vera showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Gerardo Gazitúa received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 70th minute. Julio Vera tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Daniel Zorita sent away a hard shot on goal in the 72nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Luis Andino's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Nicodemo Recalde read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 74th minute of play. Esteban José Norambuena kicked well hit freekick during the 77th minute of the match. Daniel Zorita struck a weak shot in the 81st minute. Nicodemo Recalde didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ecuador. 84 minutes into the match, Ecuador's Daniel Zorita sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Nicodemo Recalde narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Felix Montenegro recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 90th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Nicodemo Recalde came out of the goal in the 91st minute to try and stop a shot by Ecuador's Cristian Sancho. But to his dismay, Cristian Sancho quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-8. After having played for 95 minutes, Agustín Saelices managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ecuador's supporters crossed their fingers, but Agustín Saelices was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal.
