Battle of death
Spectators: 45 (Terracing: 35, Seating: 10, VIP seats: 0) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Martín Ulloa took the kick off in the first half of the match. After a defensive mix-up in ►Las Mercedes F.C◄'s zone, Felix Montenegro stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Juan Benavides came out of the goal and Felix Montenegro tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Juan Benavides made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Luis Andino in the 10th minute of play. After 10 played minutes ►Las Mercedes F.C◄ got a freekick which was hit by Nelsinho Nóbrega. In the 12th match minute, ►Las Mercedes F.C◄ was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Giancarlo Mora to maneuver through the defense. In the 17th minute Cristian Sancho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Juan Benavides saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some careless play in the ►Las Mercedes F.C◄ defense, Daniel Zorita kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Juan Benavides. The ►Las Mercedes F.C◄ fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Juan Benavides should have stopped the shot. When Daniel Zorita came up free with the goalie in the 32nd minute, the Ecuador fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Daniel Zorita couldn't finish the play. If Daniel Zorita had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 33rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Luis Andino fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 43rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Juan Benavides having to interfere. After the first half Ecuador were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Daniel Zorita stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Daniel Zorita fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 51st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Juan Benavides having to interfere. ►Las Mercedes F.C◄'s defense didn't have a chance, in the 53rd minute, when Daniel Zorita scored to the left of an out of position Juan Benavides, making the score, 0-2. The audience thought a goal was coming when Daniel Zorita got free with Juan Benavides in the 56th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. ►Las Mercedes F.C◄'s Juan Benavides played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cristian Sancho in the 57th minute of play. The corner led to Ecuador's Luis Andino getting away a dangerous shot that went just outside the goal. With a little luck, ►Las Mercedes F.C◄'s Juan Benavides got control of the ball when Daniel Zorita tried to sneak it across the goal line. Juan Benavides made a fantastic save in the 70th minute, when Daniel Zorita sent off a good shot on target. Juan Benavides made an important save on a dangerous shot by Daniel Zorita in the 71st minute. Tomás Benavides's late challenge caught a Ecuador's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Tomás Benavides helped the player get up and apologised. Tomás Benavides kicked well hit freekick during the 74th minute of the match. A hard shot by Daniel Zorita from long distance, 75 minutes into the match, got Juan Benavides's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Martín Ulloa, who was totally free with the ball in the 78th minute. A collision led to ►Las Mercedes F.C◄ getting a freekick after 79 minutes play. Ren Peng Fei hit a great ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Humberto Escobar in the 81st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Julio Vera saved Ecuador from getting behind. Luis Andino received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 82nd minute. Juan Benavides tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. With a little luck, ►Las Mercedes F.C◄'s Juan Benavides got control of the ball when Luis Andino tried to sneak it across the goal line. Daniel Zorita received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 86th minute. Juan Benavides tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Ren Peng Fei thought of kicking away a contribution in front of goal but messed it up so badly that the ball went to the right of an astonished Juan Benavides, a very annoying self made goal in the 89th minute which led to 0-3. Ecuador played a much better game than ►Las Mercedes F.C◄ and deserved their victory. The ►Las Mercedes F.C◄ players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
