Ecuador's defense didn't have a chance, in the 21st minute, when Hristo Stoichkov scored to the left of an out of position Julio Vera, making the score, 1-1. Agustín Saelices received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 24th minute. Jesus Sayveon tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 36th match minute, Athletico Picapedrense was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Eloi Fontanella to maneuver through the defense. Ecuador's Daniel Zorita got a good chance for a goal in the 40th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-1.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Daniel Zorita made a kick off. Jesus Sayveon made an important save on a dangerous shot by Cristian Sancho in the 55th minute. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Eloi Fontanella in the 56th minute of play. The supporters of Athletico Picapedrense booed when Ecuador was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 58 match minutes in a wonderful position. Daniel Zorita didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 59th match minute, Ecuador was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Daniel Zorita to maneuver through the defense. Orlondo Aguado recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 63rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 64 minutes into the match, Athletico Picapedrense's goal looked a bit too open when Daniel Zorita came free, but Jesus Sayveon reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 68th minute, 邱浩川 hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. An unexpectedly hard shot by Eloi Fontanella in the 71st minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Daniel Zorita had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 73rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Athletico Picapedrense's Eloi Fontanella got a good chance for a goal in the 77th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 82 minutes into the game, Athletico Picapedrense's Eloi Fontanella nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Julio Vera made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 3-1. Julio Vera stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Eloi Fontanella's shot from short distance in the 91st minute. 93 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Eloi Fontanella came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When the match clock showed 96 minutes, the score became 5-1 when Eloi Fontanella sped through Ecuador's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Julio Vera. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Athletico Picapedrense fans cheered their team off the field, for while Ecuador had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
