Battle of death
Spectators: 45 (Terracing: 35, Seating: 10, VIP seats: 0) Ecuador's Daniel Zorita started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Cheito Mota hit a great freekick 2 minutes into the match. Raul Brandao showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Agustín Saelices, who was totally free with the ball in the 4th minute. Raul Brandao took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cristian Sancho, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Daniel Zorita sent away a hard shot on goal in the 8th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 10th minute, Luis Andino ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Raul Brandao was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. Raul Brandao showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cristian Sancho in the 12th minute of the match. ►Las Mercedes F.C◄'s Raul Brandao played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cristian Sancho in the 16th minute of play. After 17 minutes of play, Ecuador's Cristian Sancho made it 0-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Raul Brandao was left in no man's land by his defense there! When Daniel Zorita came up free with the goalie in the 24th minute, the Ecuador fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Daniel Zorita couldn't finish the play. In the 25th minute, Cristian Sancho made a precise shot to the right of Raul Brandao. ►Las Mercedes F.C◄'s defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-4. 29 minutes into the match, Agustín Saelices had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Raul Brandao. ►Las Mercedes F.C◄'s manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Agustín Saelices was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-5. Raul Brandao showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Daniel Zorita in the 32nd minute of the match. In the 33rd minute of the match Ecuador got a corner. ►Las Mercedes F.C◄'s goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Daniel Zorita ran over to the corner to take the kick. Luis Andino blasted a shot towards the goal in the 36th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Raul Brandao having to make a save. Luis Andino spun around in front of the goal 37 minutes in the game, and got away a shot that, to his disappointment, went to the left of ►Las Mercedes F.C◄'s goal. In the 40th minute Cristian Sancho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Raul Brandao saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Daniel Zorita received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 42nd minute. Raul Brandao tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-6 lead.

55 minutes into the match, ►Las Mercedes F.C◄'s goalkeeper Raul Brandao had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Cristian Sancho. Raul Brandao made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cristian Sancho in the 56th minute of play. Raul Brandao showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Luis Andino in the 56th minute of the match. Ecuador's Daniel Zorita got a good chance for a goal in the 59th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 61st play minute Daniel Zorita came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Raul Brandao. 0-7. In the 64th minute, Daniel Zorita got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Cristian Sancho's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Raul Brandao read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 68th minute of play. Raul Brandao came out of the goal in the 73rd minute to try and stop a shot by Ecuador's Luis Andino. But to his dismay, Luis Andino quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-9. 76 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Diómedes Rodriguez came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Daniel Zorita got free with Raul Brandao in the 77th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Agustín Saelices recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 79th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Raul Brandao made an important save on a dangerous shot by Agustín Saelices in the 81st minute. When Daniel Zorita came up free with the goalie in the 82nd minute, the Ecuador fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Daniel Zorita couldn't finish the play. 85 minutes into the match, ►Las Mercedes F.C◄'s goal looked a bit too open when Agustín Saelices came free, but Raul Brandao reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in ►Las Mercedes F.C◄'s zone, Cristian Sancho stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Raul Brandao came out of the goal and Cristian Sancho tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The supporters of ►Las Mercedes F.C◄ booed when Ecuador was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 89 match minutes in a wonderful position. Camilo Gisbert didn't get a good kick on the ball. Ecuador's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
