Alberto Tafalla fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 4th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gerard Swee having to interfere. In the 6th minute of the match Joel Gaona sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Gerard Swee skillfully saved the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alberto Tafalla in the 22nd minute of play forced Panathinaikos's goalkeeper Gerard Swee to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some careless play in the Panathinaikos defense, Joel Gaona kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Gerard Swee. The Panathinaikos fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Gerard Swee should have stopped the shot. An unexpectedly hard shot by Joel Gaona in the 32nd minute of play forced Panathinaikos's goalkeeper Gerard Swee to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 34th minute Lautaro Mancebo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gerard Swee saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 35 minutes into the match, Mexico's goal looked a bit too open when Vahdet Olgun came free, but Dante Lacasa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 39 minutes into the match, Panathinaikos's goal looked a bit too open when Joel Gaona came free, but Gerard Swee reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Joel Gaona received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 45th minute. Gerard Swee tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Vahdet Olgun made a kick off. Mexico's Dante Lacasa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by 刘洋朗 in the 53rd minute of play. Panathinaikos's Gerard Swee played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Joel Gaona in the 54th minute of play. Gerard Swee took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Luca Zorita, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 59th minute of the match Mexico got a corner. Panathinaikos's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Joel Gaona ran over to the corner to take the kick. Dante Lacasa was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Facundo Cadaval received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 73rd minute. Luca Zorita's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Gerard Swee read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 78th minute of play. Dante Lacasa came out of the goal in the 82nd minute to try and stop a shot by Panathinaikos's Ruben Damario. But to his dismay, Ruben Damario quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 4-1. Dante Lacasa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Lenny Hoarau in the 86th minute of the match. The crowd rose to their feet as Mexico's Lautaro Mancebo slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Gerard Swee. That made the score 4-2 after 87 minutes of play. In the 92nd minute, 倪渊松 hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 93rd match minute Joel Gaona ran free in the middle of the field and shot a long shot which scored behind a totally surprised Gerard Swee. 4-3. Panathinaikos's Gerard Swee played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alberto Tafalla in the 96th minute of play. Mexico's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Joel Gaona in the 97th minute. The corner ended in Joel Gaona almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Panathinaikos's Gerard Swee did a great save. For all the effort they put into the match, the Mexico players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Panathinaikos.
