An unexpectedly hard shot by Rufino Rengifo in the 8th minute of play forced Venezuela's goalkeeper Jonathan Ferrant to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Renascença fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Baltazar Luz should have stopped the shot. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Rufino Rengifo in the 26th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Jonathan Ferrant prevented the ball from getting in the gole. If Tomas Illescas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 30th minute. Tomas Illescas recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 36th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The audience was convinced that Tomas Illescas's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Baltazar Luz was relentless in the 39th minute of the game. 43 minutes into the match, A.C. Renascença's goal looked a bit too open when Tomas Illescas came free, but Baltazar Luz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 45th minute, Tomas Illescas left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Venezuela fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-2. Disappointed in the 1-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Tomas Illescas was the one to do the kick off. Jonathan Ferrant took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Rufino Rengifo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The supporters of A.C. Renascença booed when Venezuela was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 76 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jonathan Venegas didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 91st minute of the match Alfredão Silva shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Jonathan Ferrant showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. The supporters of A.C. Renascença booed when Venezuela was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 92 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rigoberto Mina didn't get a good kick on the ball. After some careless play in the Venezuela defense, Cristóvão Leite kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Jonathan Ferrant. The Venezuela fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Jonathan Ferrant should have stopped the shot. Jonathan Ferrant made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Samuel Cosme in the 95th minute of play. The Venezuela supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Venezuela would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
