The audience thought a goal was coming when Kajar Indrekson got free with Rolando Noboa in the 11th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Rolando Noboa made a fantastic save in the 29th minute, when Kajar Indrekson sent off a good shot on target. In the 30th minute Julian Murillo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jago Urquijo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The corner led Peru's Emmanuel Reyes to fire away a dangerous shot which Jago Urquijo despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Rolando Noboa made an important save on a dangerous shot by Tallia Incera in the 42nd minute. Julian Murillo's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Jago Urquijo read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 46th minute of play.

With a couple of smart ball manuevers Tallia Incera in the 51st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Rolando Noboa saved Peru from getting behind. Julian Murillo who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 53rdth minute tested the skills of Jago Urquijo when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Rolando Noboa didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Gonçalo Caires went, in the 54th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-2 was the resulting score. Jago Urquijo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Julian Murillo in the 57th minute of the match. After a rather tough play, Peru's Anthony Alvarado got a free kick in the 63rd minute. Shahron Seah made in the 67th minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Peru's Eliseo Mina.
