Nelsinho Leite came out of the goal in the 91st minute to try and stop a shot by Ecuador's Daniel Zorita. But to his dismay, Daniel Zorita quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-2. After some fancy dribbling in the 96th minute, Aírton Sousa managed to get in a good position for a shot. Vascogoianiense FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Aírton Sousa was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Julio Vera breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The home crowd let out a huge roar when the referee blew for the end of the game. Vascogoianiense FC were victorious despite being under pressure from Ecuador for much of the match.
