Mexico's Dante Lacasa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gernando Azevedo in the 14th minute of play. Gernando Azevedo hit a great freekick 16 minutes into the match. Dante Lacasa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gernando Azevedo, who was totally free with the ball in the 32nd minute. After 34 minutes of play, Mexico's Alberto Tafalla made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Ruy Montenegro was left in no man's land by his defense there! Dante Lacasa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gernando Azevedo in the 40th minute of play. The supporters of Mexico booed when Los Andes FC - FSCMZ was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 41 match minutes in a wonderful position. Cezary Bartoszek didn't get a good kick on the ball. Joel Gaona fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 42nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ruy Montenegro having to interfere. 44 minutes into the game, Alberto Tafalla cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-2. Ruy Montenegro was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. 47 minutes into the match, Los Andes FC - FSCMZ's goal looked a bit too open when Joel Gaona came free, but Ruy Montenegro reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The Los Andes FC - FSCMZ players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Mexico were winning 1-2.

The audience thought a goal was coming when Alberto Tafalla got free with Ruy Montenegro in the 70th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 73 minutes into the match, Los Andes FC - FSCMZ's goalkeeper Ruy Montenegro had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Lautaro Mancebo. 79 minutes into the match, Los Andes FC - FSCMZ's Gernando Azevedo sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Dante Lacasa narrowly saved just below the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Joel Gaona in the 92nd minute of play forced Los Andes FC - FSCMZ's goalkeeper Ruy Montenegro to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When the match was over Mexico could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Los Andes FC - FSCMZ throughout the match.
