Porto Sul Football's Alexander Mejía couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 5th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Ecuador. Julio Vera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Samuel Netto in the 8th minute of the match. After a rather tough play, Porto Sul Football's Edinho Silva got a free kick in the 9th minute. César de Moraes struck a weak shot in the 14th minute. Julio Vera didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Porto Sul Football. 19 minutes into the match, Porto Sul Football's goal looked a bit too open when Daniel Zorita came free, but Francesco Toldo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Edinho Silva sent away a hard shot on goal in the 21st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Porto Sul Football's César de Moraes in the 23rd minute got a chance for a shot 23rd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. Ecuador's Daniel Zorita suffered a sore thigh after 47 minutes and couldn't finish the game. When Leopoldo dos Santos fell near the penalty area in the 47th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Porto Sul Football's protests and gave Leopoldo dos Santos a yellow card for diving instead. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

Ecuador's Cristian Sancho got a good chance for a goal in the 53rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by César de Moraes in the 55th minute of play. Luz Palacio's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Francesco Toldo firmly grabbed it by the left post. César de Moraes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 66th minute. Julio Vera tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Luz Palacio could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 68th minute of the match, but Francesco Toldo made a huge save. If Luz Palacio had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 71st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A collision led to Ecuador getting a freekick after 72 minutes play. Cristian Sancho hit a great ball. Julio Vera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Samuel Netto, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Luz Palacio during the 76th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After a rather tough play, Ecuador's Luz Palacio got a free kick in the 76th minute. After having played for 85 minutes, Agustín Saelices managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ecuador's supporters crossed their fingers, but Agustín Saelices was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 87 minutes into the match, Porto Sul Football's goalkeeper Francesco Toldo had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Agustín Saelices. Cristian Sancho received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 88th minute. Francesco Toldo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.
