After taking down the ball on Ecuador's corner Daniel Zorita fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Bruno Renan quite easily take care of the ball. Ecuador's Julio Vera proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 42nd minute of the match, managed to save Ecuador from getting a goal against them. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Marcinho Mineiro stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 52nd minute the ball was on its way in behind Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. With a left leg Julio Vera saved Ecuador from getting behind. 69 minutes into the match, Daniel Zorita dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Bruno Renan, 1-3. Florestal Futebol Clube's Matías Camargo was substituted for Marcinho Mineiro. In the 75th minute, Agustín Saelices hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Bruno Renan made an important save on a dangerous shot by Cristian Sancho in the 77th minute.
