Luz Tejedor was slow to take the kick. During this time Peru's players had a chance to rest. Through an outstanding action, after 11 minutes, Rolando Noboa successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. In the 12th minute Alexandr Lunin shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rolando Noboa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 14th minute, Alexandr Lunin managed to get in a good position for a shot. Timo!'s supporters rose to their feet, but Alexandr Lunin was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Rolando Noboa breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Julian Murillo's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Elpidio Amor read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 16th minute of play. The Peru players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
