The corner led Sobrecastell UD's Manu Bouzas to fire away a dangerous shot which Genaro Quiroga despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Silvestre Berdoi hit a great freekick 24 minutes into the match. Sobrecastell UD's Marco Goleš got a good chance for a goal in the 26th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 28 minutes into the match, River Plate's goal looked a bit too open when Tomás Beltran came free, but Genaro Quiroga reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Marco Goleš in the 32nd minute of play forced River Plate's goalkeeper Genaro Quiroga to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of Sobrecastell UD booed when River Plate was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 39 match minutes in a wonderful position. Cristo Restu didn't get a good kick on the ball. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

Sobrecastell UD's César Suarez played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Romulo Casado in the 56th minute of play. If Romulo Casado had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 58th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Genaro Quiroga showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Marco Goleš, who was totally free with the ball in the 60th minute. In the 62nd match minute, Sobrecastell UD was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Tuur Van Bever to maneuver through the defense. 63 minutes into the match, Sobrecastell UD's goal looked a bit too open when Romulo Casado came free, but César Suarez reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 70th minute Marco Goleš shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Genaro Quiroga saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.
