The supporters of Pulpo1971 FC booed when Ecuador was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 14 match minutes in a wonderful position. Felix Montes didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Katia Lallera in the 26th minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 32 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Porfiro Revilla. After some fancy dribbling in the 34th minute, Lehen Guardamino managed to get in a good position for a shot. Pulpo1971 FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Lehen Guardamino was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Julio Vera breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. When the match had gone on for 40 minutes, Aaron Lizana took a quick shot and it went in 1-1 without a chance for Julio Vera to make any attempt to save it. Porfiro Revilla fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 44th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Julio Vera having to interfere. If Daniel Zorita had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 48th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

Teofilo Valentin made an important save on a dangerous shot by Felix Montenegro in the 62nd minute. Daniel Zorita received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 63rd minute. Teofilo Valentin tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Zxavian Ibarlucea kicked well hit freekick during the 65th minute of the match. 69 minutes into the game, Porfiro Revilla cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-1. Julio Vera was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. 73 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Aaron Lizana came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 73rd minute, Aaron Lizana left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Pulpo1971 FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-1. A well-hit corner resulted in Luis Andino heading the ball towards the goal, but to his dismay he misdirected it and missed the goal completely. When the match had gone on for 80 minutes, Daniel Zorita took a quick shot and it went in 3-2 without a chance for Teofilo Valentin to make any attempt to save it. Pulpo1971 FC made a substitution. Mane Alcubilla replaced Lehen Guardamino. In the 85th match minute, Ecuador was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Camilo Gisbert to maneuver through the defense. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Aaron Lizana in the 86th minute of play. Pulpo1971 FC's Teofilo Valentin played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cristian Sancho in the 90th minute of play. Cristian Sancho recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 91st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The Pulpo1971 FC players were eager to celebrate when the final whistle sounded. They had somehow managed to win, even though the away team had held the majority of the possession.
