The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Julio Vera showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Julio Vera made a fantastic save in the 7th minute, when Nicky Bryson sent off a good shot on target. Felix Montenegro hit a great freekick 9 minutes into the match. If Cristian Sancho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 17th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ecuador were awarded a corner in the 26th minute after C. A. Pipon Pipon's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Daniel Zorita took the corner. The corner ended in Daniel Zorita almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but C. A. Pipon Pipon's Jannes Ruttens did a great save. In the 28th minute, Agustín Saelices hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 39th minute of the match, Beto Montenegro tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Julio Vera saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Nicky Bryson's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Julio Vera read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 42nd minute of play. In the 45th minute, Camilo Gisbert hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Julio Vera acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 45th minute, took the ball on the long shot from Al Whatley. Justus Lintorf fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 46th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Julio Vera having to interfere. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The wind increased when Daniel Zorita made the kick off in the second half. Jose José struck a weak shot in the 51st minute. Julio Vera didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for C. A. Pipon Pipon. After some careless play in the Ecuador defense, Nicky Bryson kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Julio Vera. The Ecuador fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Julio Vera should have stopped the shot. 56 minutes into the match, C. A. Pipon Pipon's goalkeeper Jannes Ruttens had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Cristian Sancho. After a rather tough play, C. A. Pipon Pipon's Jose José got a free kick in the 57th minute. Jannes Ruttens was out of position in the 59 minute of play, and Cristian Sancho capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Cristian Sancho really showed his touch with that goal: 1-1. Jannes Ruttens made a fantastic save in the 64th minute, when Cristian Sancho sent off a good shot on target. 64 minutes into the game, Ecuador's Cristian Sancho nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Jannes Ruttens made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-2. In the 67th minute Beto Montenegro shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Beto Montenegro in the 68th minute of play. Daniel Zorita could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 72nd minute of the match, but Jannes Ruttens made a huge save. The crowd rose to their feet as Ecuador's Daniel Zorita slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Jannes Ruttens. That made the score 1-3 after 72 minutes of play. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Justus Lintorf in the 75th minute of play. Daniel Zorita fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 76th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jannes Ruttens having to interfere. C. A. Pipon Pipon made a substitution. Francesco Figueroa replaced Jose José. C. A. Pipon Pipon's Benito Morin was substituted for Al Whatley. An unexpectedly hard shot by Beto Montenegro in the 79th minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 79th minute, Beto Montenegro ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Julio Vera was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-3. 84 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Beto Montenegro came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Ecuador walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
