Ecuador's supporters rose to their feet, but Daniel Zorita was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Robert Scigan breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 91 minutes into the match, Ecuador's Cristian Sancho sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Robert Scigan narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 92nd minute, Stefan Lato ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Julio Vera was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-6. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Stefan Lato, who was totally free with the ball in the 95th minute. The Mrocezenko SSA fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Ecuador were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
