An unexpectedly hard shot by Tomas Illescas in the 34th minute of play forced Abuba Akotonon FC's goalkeeper Hugo Orlando Gatti to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 36 minutes into the match, Cecilio Tristan had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Jonathan Ferrant. Venezuela's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Cecilio Tristan was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-0. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

A very good chance. Jonathan Ferrant stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Cecilio Tristan's shot from short distance in the 70th minute. In the 78th minute, Robt Paulet hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Abuba Akotonon FC's Ernesto Oxarra was substituted for Ramiro Rey. Emanuel Aurre hit a great freekick 81 minutes into the match. Jonathan Ferrant showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cecilio Tristan, who was totally free with the ball in the 84th minute. Abuba Akotonon FC made a substitution. Ramón Garay replaced Vânderson Barbosa. In the 91stth minute of the game Cecilio Tristan who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cecilio Tristan in the 93rd minute of play. For all the effort they put into the match, the Venezuela players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Abuba Akotonon FC.
