Ecuador's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-0. 7 minutes into the match, SC Freiburg 09's goal looked a bit too open when Cristian Sancho came free, but Ivo Guterres reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 8 minutes SC Freiburg 09's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Daniel Zorita who took care of the corner kick. The corner ended in Daniel Zorita almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but SC Freiburg 09's Ivo Guterres did a great save. Daniel Zorita struck a weak shot in the 11th minute. Ivo Guterres didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ecuador. If Abílio Passos had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 13th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Abílio Passos in the 17th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Julio Vera saved Ecuador from getting behind. Ivo Guterres showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cristian Sancho, who was totally free with the ball in the 19th minute. In the 20th minute Ecuador were awarded a corner. Daniel Zorita went to the cornerflag to take it. Ivo Guterres showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Daniel Zorita in the 22nd minute of the match. SC Freiburg 09's Ivo Guterres played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cristian Sancho in the 26th minute of play. Daniel Zorita blasted a shot towards the goal in the 27th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Ivo Guterres having to make a save. Julio Vera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Raul Leal, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Raul Leal in the 40th minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 42nd minute Cristian Sancho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ivo Guterres saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a rather tough play, Ecuador's Cristian Sancho got a free kick in the 43rd minute. SC Freiburg 09's Raul Leal got a good chance for a goal in the 47th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Raul Leal made a kick off. Felix Montenegro came free with the goalkeeper in the 55th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Ivo Guterres could save by the left post. In the 56th minute Ecuador were awarded a corner. Daniel Zorita went to the cornerflag to take it. After having played for 59 minutes, Raul Leal managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. SC Freiburg 09's supporters crossed their fingers, but Raul Leal was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Daniel Zoritas short, quick shot in the 61stth minute got Ivo Guterres to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. 63 minutes into the game, SC Freiburg 09's Nuno Bragança nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Julio Vera made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 3-0. Julio Vera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Abílio Passos, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 68 minutes into the match, Abílio Passos had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Julio Vera. Ecuador's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Abílio Passos was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 4-0. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Abílio Passos in the 71st minute of play. Through an outstanding action, after 72 minutes, Ivo Guterres successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. After 73 minutes SC Freiburg 09's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Daniel Zorita who took care of the corner kick. After taking down the ball on Ecuador's corner Daniel Zorita fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Ivo Guterres quite easily take care of the ball. Cristian Sanchos short, quick shot in the 77thth minute got Ivo Guterres to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. A collision led to SC Freiburg 09 getting a freekick after 78 minutes play. Nuno Bragança hit a great ball. In the 81st minute of the match Ecuador got a corner. SC Freiburg 09's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Daniel Zorita ran over to the corner to take the kick. An unexpectedly hard shot by Vasco Brás in the 83rd minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When the match had gone on for 87 minutes, Daniel Zorita put it in 4-1 from a short distance just to the right of Ivo Guterres. SC Freiburg 09's Abílio Passos got a good chance for a goal in the 90th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. SC Freiburg 09 had won after a very even match.
