The ball went over the crossbar instead. 10 minutes into the match, Almeyra F.C.'s goal looked a bit too open when Alberto Tafalla came free, but Cristo Colas reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 11th minute Mexico were awarded a corner. Joel Gaona went to the cornerflag to take it. A nice corner shot did that Facundo Cadaval got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Cristo Colas quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. In the 12th minute of the match Mexico got a corner. Almeyra F.C.'s goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Joel Gaona ran over to the corner to take the kick. Alberto Tafalla made a great header on Mexico's corner, it was just that Almeyra F.C.'s Cristo Colas managed to reach the ball for a save. Cristo Colas showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Lautaro Mancebo, who was totally free with the ball in the 14th minute. 18 minutes into the match, Mexico's goalkeeper Dante Lacasa had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Francisco Perico. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.
The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Joel Gaona stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. The crowd rose to their feet as Joel Gaona kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Cristo Colas. That made the score 0-3 in the 90 minute of play. Cristo Colas made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Alberto Tafalla in the 95th minute of play. The Mexico supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Mexico would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
