In the 86th minute, Juan Sebastián Puig hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 87th minute of the match Carlos da Costa sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Julio Vera skillfully saved the ball. 余默轩 sent away a hard shot on goal in the 91st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. Aloísio Perez came out of the goal and Cristian Sancho tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Ecuador's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
